Michael Thorne
March 2003 to Present

Michael Thorne became principal of Eastside High School in 2003 after serving as assistant principal of administration at the school since 2001. Prior to coming to Eastside, Thorne was principal of Sebastian Middle School in Vero Beach, Florida from 1995-2000. During his tenure as principal at Eastside, Brad Burklew, Veita Carter, Michael Todd, and Patrick Wnek have all served as assistant principals under him.

Under Thorne many significant faculty improvements have occurred, which, according to Thorne, “carry over to motivation and excitement for students and faculty.” His most memorable moment was the graduation ceremony of his first graduating class in 2003. Thorne considers his greatest contribution to the school as “bringing students together to love each other even with all our differences.” He envisions Eastside High School to be the school all students will want to attend, where learning is first and leaders of society are made and taught.
