Credit Requirements

At the beginning of each school year the classification of students is based upon pro­motion from eighth grade and the credits earned in high school Students must earn a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 (“C”) on a 4.0 scale to graduate.

To receive a regular high school diploma, students must demonstrate achievement of State Department of Education approved minimum student performance standards/Sunshine State Standards as measured by the Florida Comprehensive Achievement Test (FCAT). Beginning with the graduating class of 2003, passing grades on the FCAT will be required to graduate.

Note:
Beginning with the graduating class of 2003, participation in two full seasons of interscholastic sports at the junior varsity or varsity level may be used to satisfy the one-credit physical education requirement if the student makes a "C" or better on a competency test for personal fitness (Florida Statute 1003.43). No credit will be earned when satisfying the physical education requirement through interscholastic sports participation. Completion of one semester with a grade of "C" or better in a Marching Band class or in a Physical Activity class that requires participation in Marching Band activities as an extracurricular activity shall satisfy a one-half credit requirement in Physical Education.  This one-half credit may not be used to satisfy the Personal Fitness requirement or the requirement for Adaptive PE under an Individual Education Plan (IEP) or 504 Plan.

Fulfilling the 24 credit course of study for an International Baccalaureate Diploma meets all standard diploma graduation requirements.
