Why would you not want to be a major part of it?
Greetings from Eastside Academic Boosters!
Eastside Academic Boosters is a voluntary parent organization that actively seeks to enrich the educational experience at Eastside. Although our efforts are not restricted to the IB program, the majority of our members come from this group, and we have developed specific programs that address the interests and needs of IB students. Here are five reasons why you should join Academic Boosters:
- Eastside does not have a PTA. Academic Boosters is the next best thing. By joining our group you gain access to parents whose children have been through the program, and who can help you navigate the complexities of High School today.
- IB Directory. Academic Boosters produces an annual directory of IB students. Most IB students are very involved in school and extracurricular activities. This directory provides you and your student with access to other students and parents in the program. Members of Academic Boosters will receive an updated version of the directory at the end of the fall semester.
- IB banquets. Academic Boosters organizes banquets at the end of the year for the IB classes. These are a wonderful experience in which parents and students share the achievements of the past year.
- Teacher appreciation. Student achievement is tied to the quality of their teachers. Academic Boosters sponsors a number of teacher appreciation events during the year, and actively works to provide teachers with the resources they need.
- SAC representation. Did you know that the School Advisory Council (SAC) is responsible for allocating about $150,000 per year in enhancement monies (generated largely from AP testing and IB diplomas)? Every SAC meeting is attended by a member of Academic Boosters and our goal is to see that the money goes to enhance the educational environment at Eastside.
For a small contribution you can be a member of this organization. Academic Boosters meets two to three times per year, and we sponsor a speaker(s) who talks directly to the opportunities for and needs of our students. Members receive direct mail notification of these meetings. Please contact about becoming a member.
