SAT Test Dates

The SAT is three hours and thirty-five minute exam that measures skills in the areas of Critical Reading, Mathematics and Writing. The scores are used for college admissions purposes because the test predicts readiness for college work. The Writing section will be added as of the March 2005 test administration date.

The SAT will still measure the kind of reasoning skills needed for college by assessing how students apply what they have learned in school. Colleges and universities use the SAT as one of the many factors in admissions decisions. The best preparation for the new SAT and for college is for students to take challenging courses and to read and write widely.
