Eastside High School’s magnet program in the Pre-IB is open to qualifying ninth grade students who live in Alachua County. Acceptance is based upon previous achievement in school, using four criteria:

• Unweighted grade point average for grades six and seven (minimum 3.2)
• Unweighted grade point average in core subjects for the first semester of grade eight (3.0 minimum)
• High percentile scores on grade seven FCAT
• Completed application with essay

Each criterion is transferred to a numerical scale, all are equally weighted. In the event that a student seeks to enter the Program after ninth grade, higher levels of achievement are expected. Each case of admission is treated individually based upon space available in the IB class. Decisions of the admissions committee are final.
